Hello friends, My heart is filled with gratitude for the exciting month I’ve had sharing emotional literacy tools with so many. The need for mental wellness tools is more significant than ever. I am happy to have been a guest at these beautiful events and have the opportunity to provide emotional literacy to so many people.
- District 5 Miami Dade School Board member Christi Fraga yearly event for PTA members, parent volunteers, principals, and other educational leaders about children and teens’ emotional and social wellness. I proudly shared the stage with superintendent Alberto Carvalho and other key players in the community.
- The 2021 Catechetical Conference welcomed over 400 guests, including catechists, counselors, and school principals from Monroe, Miami-Dade, and Broward County schools. It was a treat to present at the gym of Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School to so many interested.
- Dr. Karen Silva Haj invited me to speak at Leewood K8 to about three hundred students in grades 6th-8th, where students learned that happiness is a skill that can be learned and received great tools to help them stay in touch with positive emotions, thoughts, and actions.
These presentations included students, educators, counselors, school administrators, and more. One of the tools discussed throughout this month is the power of gratitude and contribution. Being grateful is a choice we can make that leads to being more mentally fit. Gratitude helps produce “happy” neurochemicals that positively influence our bodies, thoughts, words, and actions. It also has the power to influence those around us, reinforcing the boomerang effect of welcoming back whatever we give.
