May is mental health awareness month. To honor it, Triumph Steps has offered schools a FREE one-hour presentation filled with emotional literacy tools for teachers and parents– the two most influential forces in a child’s life.
Hundreds of teachers and parents heard that happiness is a skill that can be learned. In addition, they received tools to take to their classrooms and homes and positively influence thousands of children.
Teachers and parents understood that not everyone who feels anxious or sad sometimes has a mental condition. We talked about the fact that emotions make us unique and special; therefore, it is essential to embrace them, identify and validate them. It is also important to understand that not everyone who experiences these emotions needs mental health services; however, everyone must have emotional literacy training to learn to gain dominion over their mental states.
I’ve had a lot of fun talking to teachers and parents and offering Triumph’s eight steps strategies to thrive and be joyful while making wise decisions. I shared with participants about the thought-body connection to become self-aware of their anxious or sad thoughts while offering practical, easy-to-use tools to help participants learn to self-regulate and be happier. Participants also grasped the idea that life is a boomerang and we must be prepared to welcome what we give, therefore becoming aware of those around us.
Our mission is to place more and more people on the journey to triumph. If you would like to learn more about bringing mental wellness tools to your school or home, please email us or call us at 305-646-0112.
